Japanese Tea Garden

3853 N St Mary's St, San Antonio, TX 78212 · San Antonio, TX

Why you should go…

In 1918, San Antonio turned an abandoned limestone quarry into this sunken wonderland of stone-arch bridges, a pagoda, koi-filled ponds, and a 60-foot waterfall. The faux-wood concrete torii gate by artist Dionicio Rodríguez marks the entrance, and shaded walkways wind past year-round floral displays. Restored in 2008 after decades of wear, the garden sits on the edge of Brackenridge Park near the zoo, and it's completely free, open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
