Tours start at the Dyess Colony Visitors Center with a short film and exhibits, continue to a museum in the colony's Administration Building, and end with a guided walk through the restored Cash farmhouse. The house was built in 1934 for a New Deal farming colony, and the Cash family moved in the following year when J.R. was three. He lived here until 1950, and the cotton fields and floods of those years turned up later in songs like "Five Feet High and Rising."
