John Eberson's 1929 masterpiece is Texas's grandest atmospheric theatre: sit beneath a deep-blue ceiling of twinkling stars and drifting clouds, flanked by fantastical Spanish-Moorish villages climbing the walls. The first fully air-conditioned theatre in Texas, it's now a National Historic Landmark seating about 2,264 for touring Broadway shows, big-name comedy, and concerts on Houston Street downtown. Even if you know the show, the room itself is half the ticket, arrive early and look up.
