Small seasonal aquarium on Nantucket showing local marine animals run by the Maria Mitchell Association.
32 Washington Street, Nantucket, MA · Nantucket, MA
The aquarium sits on Washington Street and is run by the Maria Mitchell Association, a nonprofit founded in 1902. Its tanks hold animals collected from around Nantucket, including crabs, jellyfish, lobsters, and small fish. A touch tank lets visitors handle marine life, and an outdoor circle tank overlooks the harbor. Exhibits change through the season, and animals are released back to the wild at season's end. The association plans a larger future Discovery Center & Aquarium on its waterfront property.
