About McLean County Museum of History

The McLean County Museum of History is a nonprofit museum in downtown Bloomington, Illinois, run by the McLean County Historical Society. Its galleries present local history across several floors, including a hands-on Discovery Room for younger visitors. Rotating displays draw from a large object collection, and recent temporary shows cover subjects such as local baseball and softball and the asbestos plant on the city's west side. The museum also offers a non-circulating research library, genealogy and city directory resources, school programs, and self-guided and walking tours of Bloomington. Visitors enter through the Visitors Center, which sells local products and Lincoln and Route 66 souvenirs.
