Medicine Bow National Forest
Snowy Range area off WY-130, west of Centennial · Laramie, WY
Why you should go…
Medicine Bow National Forest covers about 1.1 million acres of southeastern Wyoming and is managed from Laramie together with Colorado's Routt National Forest. The Snowy Range tops out at 12,013-foot Medicine Bow Peak, and the Vedauwoo rock formations by Interstate 80 draw climbers. Savage Run, Huston Park and Platte River are among its wilderness areas. The name recalls tribes gathering here for mountain mahogany to make bows.
