This museum tells how New Bedford's whaling fleet tied a small seaport to the world, through art, science and local history. Its centerpiece is the Lagoda, a half-scale model of a whaling bark built inside the building in 1916, 89 feet long with a 50-foot mainmast. Whale skeletons hang overhead, including a humpback, a sperm whale and a North Atlantic right whale. Adult tickets are $24 and a guided highlights tour at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. is included.
