Formed by an ancient underground river fed by glacial meltwater, Ohio Caverns is the state's largest cave system and one of the most colorful in the country, with roughly 90 percent of its stalactite and stalagmite formations still active. Guided walking tours wind through crystal-lined passages beneath Champaign County farmland. The site has welcomed visitors since 1897.
