A city-run museum in Paterson focused on the town's industrial, textile, and locomotive history, plus local archaeology and mineralogy.
2 Market Street, Paterson, New Jersey, 07501 · Paterson, NJ
The Paterson Museum is housed in the restored Thomas Rogers Locomotive Erecting Shop, where it moved in 1982. It was founded in 1925 and is run by the city of Paterson. Its collections cover local archaeology, history, and mineralogy, and its exhibits trace Paterson's growth as a machinery and textile center, its locomotive manufacturing, Colt arms, and early Holland submarines. Guided tours are available for school and community groups by appointment. The building has no air conditioning, so visitors are asked to call ahead during hot weather because the museum may close unexpectedly when the main gallery becomes too warm.
