Schweitzer is a ski resort in the Selkirk Mountains about 11 miles northwest of Sandpoint, with 2,900 skiable acres, 92 named runs and open bowls, and a 2,440-foot vertical drop. Ten lifts serve the mountain, and twilight tickets let you ski at night under the lights. Winter also brings cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat-tire biking. In summer more than 25 miles of trails open to hikers and mountain bikers, with views over Lake Pend Oreille.
