Sprockets Fun Foundry is a multi-level indoor entertainment center just off the Keystone boardwalk, a few miles from Mount Rushmore, housed in a building styled as an old mine with rusty metal, barn wood and artifacts from the Homestake Gold Mine. Visitors ride virtual reality attractions with wind, heat and moving floors, play a 50-plus game arcade on digital fun cards, and bowl on four duckpin lanes with small pins and hand-sized balls. A second-floor taproom serves craft beer, local wine, pizza and wings. The venue is run by the owners of Rushmore Cave and Rush Mountain Adventure Park; it is open year-round, with Thursday to Sunday hours in fall and winter. Look for the giant robot sign out front.

The first hour is the quietest
