Corner of Old Route 66 (2nd St) and N Kinsley Ave · Winslow, AZ
This small downtown park on old Route 66 celebrates the line about Winslow, Arizona in "Take It Easy," the song written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey and recorded by the Eagles. You can stand next to Ron Adamson's bronze statue "Easy," a guitar at his side, in front of John Pugh's two-story trompe-l'oeil mural, with a flatbed Ford parked at the curb. A life-sized statue of Glenn Frey was added in 2016. The park opened in 1999 and its brick wall carries donor names and stories.
General sightseeing guidance
Habits that pay off across this whole category, not rules for this one venue. Always check the official site for the specifics.
The forecast is part of the ticket
Haze, low cloud, and rain flatten a view. Clear-day visits are worth rearranging your plans for.
Golden hour sells out first
Sunset slots at observation decks and cruises are the first to go, so book those further ahead.
Dress a layer warmer
It is always breezier up high and out on the water than it feels at street level.
Timed entry is common
Plenty of landmarks release tickets in windows rather than at the door, so check before you walk over.
