About Starr Family Home State Historic Site

This state historic site in downtown Marshall is made up of several well-kept buildings that together tell the story of the Starr family's roughly 150 years in Texas. Furnishings, clothing, and antiques from different periods show how the structures changed as the family passed through successive generations. Visitors can tour the 1871 Greek Revival house and learn about the family, whose members helped settle a large share of the state. The Texas Historical Commission runs the site, and the grounds and buildings can also be rented for private events.
