A personal collection by Rosemary Walker that preserves and presents Black history in Forsyth and Monroe County, Georgia.
Forsyth, GA
This online and display collection was assembled by Rosemary Walker, who grew up in Forsyth and still lives there. It gathers materials that record the accomplishments and past of the Black community in Monroe County. Walker began showing the works publicly, with an annual February display starting in 2010 that paused when COVID-19 prevented gatherings. She now shares the collection on its website for a wider audience, asking visitors to spread the word and honor those who came before. Featured items include photographs and stories such as a homecoming queen moment, a royal court photo, and a local hero's bravery, with audio commentary from Walker planned for later.
