A preserved home in Philadelphia that honors the Polish-born engineer and Revolutionary War hero Thaddeus Kosciuszko.
301 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA · Philadelphia, PA
This National Park Service memorial protects the former residence of Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish military engineer who helped the American cause during the Revolution. Visitors can tour the house and an adjoining exhibit area that explains his work designing defenses at West Point. A room where he hosted guests, including Thomas Jefferson and Chief Little Turtle, is part of the visit. The house had deteriorated over time before it was designated a national memorial in 1972. The site is a short walk from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center.
