501 Napoleon Ave · New Orleans, LA
Tipitina's opened in 1977 at the corner of Napoleon Avenue and Tchoupitoulas Street, in a 1912 building that was once a gambling house and gymnasium. Its name comes from "Tipitina," a song by Professor Longhair, who performed here until his death in 1980. Members of the jam band Galactic bought the club in 2018, and its calendar mixes touring bands with local acts. During Jazz Fest it hosts the Fess Jazztival concert series.

Age policies shift by night and by room, so carry it even if you have not been asked in years.
Weeknights show the room properly
Quieter nights are the ones where you can actually hear the band and find a seat.
