About Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site

Wickliffe Mounds is the site of a Mississippian town on a bluff above the Ohio River, about 3 miles from where it meets the Mississippi, lived in from about AD 1100 to 1350. Two large platform mounds and at least eight smaller ones ring a central plaza, and the Ceremonial Mound is the main viewing spot. The museum shows pottery and stone tools excavated here and a mural of the village as it looked. Kentucky State Parks has run the site since 2004.
