Experience Philadelphia’s Greatest Sports Spectacles

Travel through South Philadelphia and for a "fanatical" travel experience.

Visit the sidelines of the greatest sports spectacles. Travel through South Philadelphia for a "fanatical" travel experience.

Transportation: Whether it's a rental car, rideshare, or public transportation options, expect travel time to be less than 15 minutes between activities on this side of Philadelphia.

The Hilton Garden Inn Philadelphia Center City is a great option, located only 15-minutes from the sports center of town. Hop in the car for a 10-minute ride to your first stop where a stacked tower of red velvet pancakes at the Green Eggs Café awaits. The Café offers a delicious, inexpensive variety of dishes ranging from sweet to savory foods. Serving award-winning pancakes, and lunch options like their mouth-watering burgers, the menu is huge!

TIP: Call ahead to beat that line.

Dive into the pylon! Get behind-the-scenes access to the wonders of the Lincoln Financial Stadium. Feel the rush of energy when walking the sidelines of the field. Then head to the press room to answer post-game questions from the media. Conclude your visit by preparing for the next game and on your visit to the Eagles locker room.

Lincoln Financial Field information: Public tours are offered only on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Private tours (for large groups) are offered Monday through Saturday.

TIP: Grab your tickets ahead of time online through Ticketmaster. Hours and availability may be limited.

If you’ve worked up an appetite, head over to the Xfinity Live entertainment center and grab a bite to eat, located next to Lincoln Financial Arena and the Wells Fargo Center. Choose from all the local favorites: Geno's Steak's, Lorenzo & Sons Pizza, Chickie’s & Pete's, Broad Street Bullies Pub, NBC Sports Arena, and many more.

Xfinity Live's options can be overwhelming, but when in Philadelphia, you really should stop by Geno's and order an authentic cheesesteak or hoagie, then walk right on over to the home of the Philadelphia Flyers and 76ers to re-live the memorable moments in Philadelphia sports. Start your tour with a bit of history on the main concourse and view the Flyers and 76ers wall displays.

Tour all the fantastic facilities within the area including the all-new Gritty Command Center, take in the view from a premium club box level, then head up to the balcony to check out the press box row, as well as the brand-new New City Terrace area. That's not all! Head down to the event level to get a close-up view of the ice or court.

"The best part about running the tour program is being able to cater it based on the interests of each group visiting the arena. For major Sixers fans, I will try to schedule the tour on a day where the court is down, and similarly where the ice is down for Flyers fans," recommends Amanda Bracken, Group and events coordinator of Wells Fargo Center. Wrap up your tour by taking a trip down to the visiting team locker rooms as well as the press conference area. "It's great to be able to give each group a different, special experience," states Bracken.

Wells Fargo Tour information: The Wells Fargo Center offers public and private tours (for larger groups of 25.) Tours are offered Monday through Friday, from 10 AM to 5 PM, and last from 60-90 minutes.

What better way to continue the festivities than to head over to Yards Brewery? This thirst-quenching operation is perfectly situated less than 15 minutes from the Wells Fargo Center and Lincoln Financial Stadium. Hear the story of Yards and learn the brewing process on a brewery tour. The tour provides samples from several beers, including Philadelphia's number 1 seller, Philadelphia Pale Ale, known for its bright citrus hop aroma and flavor.

Yard's also gives a walkthrough of the Brewhouse to explain the kegging, bottling, and canning processes. Tours last about 40-minutes and are available seven days a week and range in availability. Yard's taproom dinner menu provides many tasty menu options like the Brawler Burger, Philly Wings, and Fried Mac and Cheese, along with a variety of soups, snacks, entrees, and desserts. Yards will give you a great experience that will not only be remembering but will cap the end to a fantastic, fanatic Philadelphia sports vacation.
