"Phil" yourself with culture in Philly this Holiday Season
There's more to Philly than cheesesteaks. Philadelphia is also packed with culture, history, and fun. Below we’ve gathered our favorite three things to do while in Philly, perfect for families, friends, and visitors of all ages.
1. Franklin Institute
Look no further than the Franklin Institute for a day full of educational and interactive fun. Guests of all ages will enjoy the 3 floors of scientific play and educational programs. See the stars in the new Nicholas and Athena Karabots Planetarium, learn about how the brain works and fire a model neuron, and much more.
2. Historic Germantown
Historic Germantown immerses guests into the Revolutionary War era- it was the only site in Philadelphia where any battles were fought. Also notable, it was the site where the first American protest against slavery was written and the location of one of the last houses on the Underground Railroad. There are plenty of things to do and museums to visit, making it an ideal destination for a family trip.
3. Philadelphia Mummers Fancy Brigade
If you find yourself in Philly this holiday season, don't miss the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness one of the biggest New Years celebrations in the country. The Philadelphia Mummers Fancy Brigade rings in each new year by parading through the city streets with comics, clowns, floats and bands. Be amazed and amused as the Fancy Brigade clubs perform choreographed skits while adorned in lavish costumes with intricate props.
