A 100-acre nature garden of restored prairies, woodlands and wetlands on the shore of Lake Springfield, with free admission to the grounds.

The garden is designed to resemble the Midwestern landscape that Abraham Lincoln knew as a boy. Landscape architect Jens Jensen designed the site, which includes a 63-acre Jensen section beside Lake Springfield and a newer 29-acre Ostermeier Prairie Center section. Visitors can walk more than six miles of trails that pass through restored prairie, woodland and wetland. The garden draws families, birdwatchers, photographers, artists and school groups who come to see wildflowers, trees and wildlife. A Nature Center is also on site, and the garden is run by a nonprofit foundation that depends on donations.
