Run by Oakley Area Tourism, the Buffalo Bill Cultural Center doubles as a Kansas community travel information center just off I-70 in western Kansas. Outside stands a twice life-size bronze of Buffalo Bill by Charlie and Pat Norton, named one of the 8 Wonders of Kansas Art, beside an interpretive storyboard on the Smoky Hill Trail, Annie Oakley, Native American culture and modern agriculture; both can be visited around the clock. Inside are displays on the 1860 to 1880 Wild West era, fossils and cattle trails, kids' activities, Kansas maps, coffee and a gift shop of Kansas-made products. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday 11am to 5pm; pets are welcome.
