This grouping covers small cities spread across the high plains of western Kansas: Oakley, Colby, Hays and Finney County, whose seat is Garden City. Colby's Prairie Museum of Art and History displays the Kuska Collection of antique furnishings, glass and dolls. Hays was once a stop for Old West figures including Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill and Wyatt Earp, and Garden City is home to the Sandsage Bison Range, a wildlife area with a resident bison herd.
