About Cedar Rock State Park

Cedar Rock State Park in Buchanan County preserves the former estate of Lowell and Agnes Walter. The Walters commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1940s, and the Usonian-style residence remains the park's focal point, surrounded by gardens and trails. The Walters gave the property to the State of Iowa in 1981. Visitors can tour the Walter House on seasonal schedules that require checking in at the visitor center, and a hiking trail leads to the estate while offering information on the park's natural and cultural features.
