About Cliffs of the Neuse State Park

About 15 miles southeast of Goldsboro, this park sits on 90-foot bluffs above the Neuse River. Layers of sand, clay, seashells, shale and gravel give the 600-yard cliff face bands of white, tan, yellow and brown. Four miles of hiking trails and 3.5 miles of biking trails run through longleaf pine and along creeks, and the visitor center has exhibits on the cliffs' geology. Day use is free. The swim beach and boat rentals are closed for the 2026 season, but the trails stay open.
