About Pullen Park

Pullen Park opened in 1887 on farmland Richard Stanhope Pullen gave the city, and it is the oldest public park in North Carolina, covering 66 acres next to NC State University. Its Dentzel carousel was carved around 1912, has 52 hand-carved animals and a 1924 Wurlitzer organ, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. There is also a small train, pedal boats and kiddie boats on Lake Howell, playgrounds, picnic shelters and the Theatre in the Park. Each ride costs $2 per person, with tickets sold at the Welcome Center or online.
