A Wisconsin state park known for gorges, waterfalls, and lava-flow rock, with camping, hiking, and fishing.
Ashland County, WI
Copper Falls State Park sits along the Bad River and its tributary, the Tylers Forks, where water runs through a gorge and drops over several waterfalls. Its rock includes ancient lava flows. Log buildings from the 1930s, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, still stand in the park. Visitors can camp, hike, bike, picnic, fish, and swim in Loon Lake. The 1.7-mile Doughboy's Nature Trail follows the Bad River. Copper has been mined in the area by earlier peoples and later settlers.
