About Danbury Museum and Historical Society

The Danbury Museum and Historical Society works to gather, safeguard, display, and explain the history of the greater Danbury area for learners, visitors, and researchers. Its main campus at 43 Main Street includes several historic buildings, among them Huntington Hall, an 1785 house, an 1790 hat shop, a small red schoolhouse, and the Marian Anderson Studio. The museum also runs the Charles Ives Birthplace on Mountainville Avenue. Guided tours run midweek, booked in advance through Eventbrite, and staff-assisted research is available by appointment. Huntington Hall hosts exhibit space on a midweek afternoon schedule. The museum is supported partly by the City of Danbury, with the remainder raised by volunteers and staff.
