Deception Pass State Park spans 3,854 acres on Whidbey and Fidalgo islands, joined by the Deception Pass Bridge, dedicated in 1935. From the bridge you look down roughly 180 feet to the water of the pass. The park has rugged ocean cliffs, old-growth forest, four freshwater lakes, tide pools at Rosario Beach and three campgrounds. The Civilian Conservation Corps built much of it in the 1930s, and an interpretive center at Bowman Bay tells that story.
