Built beside a quarry packed with marine fossils from the end of the dinosaur age, Rowan University's Edelman Fossil Park & Museum opened in 2025 with interactive extinction exhibits, a virtual reality chamber, a working fossil lab, and a paleo playground. On Community Dig Days visitors head into the quarry and keep what they unearth. It is the only active public fossil dig site east of the Mississippi River.
