The Everson was the first museum to collect only American art, a choice it made in 1911, and it holds more than 10,000 works. Its ceramics holdings are among the largest in the nation, with more than 100 pieces by Syracuse potter Adelaide Alsop Robineau, and it also has one of the largest video art collections. The 1968 concrete building was the first museum designed by I. M. Pei. Adult admission is $14, children 6 to 12 pay $5, and there is limited free parking in the Harrison Street lot out front.
