Why you should go…
Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area spans the Utah and Wyoming line around a 91-mile reservoir created by Flaming Gorge Dam, completed in 1964. John Wesley Powell named the gorge in 1869 for its red sandstone cliffs. You can boat, fish the Blue Ribbon waters of the reservoir and the Green River, hike, camp, rock climb or raft. The Flaming Gorge Dam Visitor Center sits at 5995 US-191 in Dutch John.
