Fort Morgan sits at the tip of Mobile Point, at the west end of Highway 180, and was finished in 1834 after 15 years of work by builders who included enslaved masons. On August 5, 1864, Admiral David Farragut led his Union fleet past its guns into Mobile Bay. You can walk the fort, the concrete batteries built from 1895 to 1904 and a museum on the point's military history. Adult admission is $8. Birders come in spring and fall for migrating birds.
