54 Pearl Street · New York, NY
Fraunces Tavern Museum occupies the upper floors of a 1719 building at Pearl and Broad Streets in the Financial District, owned by the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York. Galleries across five connected 18th-century buildings hold Revolutionary-era documents, furnishings and objects tied to Washington and New York's role in the war, with the restored Long Room where Washington took leave of his officers in 1783 as the centerpiece. It is open daily from noon to 5pm with tickets sold at the second-floor desk; guided tours run Friday through Sunday, and a working tavern restaurant occupies the ground floor.
General museums guidance
Habits that pay off across this whole category, not rules for this one venue. Always check the official site for the specifics.
Check the special exhibition separately
Touring shows usually carry their own ticket and their own opening hours, listed apart from general admission.
Look for the free window
Many museums run community days, member evenings, or discounted late openings. It is worth a look before you pay full price.
Travel light through the door
Large bags and backpacks often have to go to a coat check, and lines for it move slowly at opening.
Weekday mornings beat weekend afternoons
School groups clear out by early afternoon midweek, while weekends stay busy from late morning on.
