Tucked behind downtown storefronts, Gilgal Sculpture Garden holds twelve sculptures and dozens of engraved stones created by Thomas Battersby Child Jr. between 1945 and 1963. A sphinx with the face of Joseph Smith is the best-known piece among the garden's odd, symbolic carvings. Now a city park, it is free and rarely crowded.
