About Lake Norman State Park

Lake Norman State Park sits on the northern shore of Lake Norman near Troutman, the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina, created when Duke Power built Cowans Ford Dam between 1959 and 1964. The Itusi Trail gives mountain bikers nearly 31 miles of single-track, and hikers have about 38 miles of trail. You can rent pedal boats and canoes, swim with a swim pass, launch a boat or camp in cabins and tent sites. Day use is free.
