A roughly 86-acre Illinois history park near Lerna built around a replica of a cabin tied to Thomas Lincoln.
Lerna, IL
This state historic site covers about 86 acres roughly eight miles south of Charleston, Illinois, close to the town of Lerna. Its main feature is a reconstructed log cabin modeled on the home Thomas Lincoln, father of Abraham Lincoln, built and lived in. Abraham Lincoln did not live on the property, though he visited now and then and gave his family financial support. After Thomas died in 1851, Abraham managed the farm for his stepmother, Sarah Bush Lincoln. The grounds are run by the state's historic preservation agency.
