Loring Park is a neighborhood park run by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Its centerpiece is Loring Pond, a lake that sits in the middle of the park and offers a quiet break from the surrounding city streets. Visitors can walk or bike the paths, fish from a pier on the south side, and see the Berger Dandelion Fountain, where kids often cool off on hot days. The park also has a playground, tennis and basketball courts, pickleball courts, shuffleboard courts, a dog park, and a community garden. A footbridge links the park to the nearby Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The park began in 1883 as Central Park and was later renamed to honor Charles Loring, the first president of the park board. The site has hosted concerts, movies, and winter events over the years.
