About Loveland Castle (Chateau Laroche)

Chateau Laroche, better known as Loveland Castle, is a medieval-style castle that Boy Scout leader and World War I veteran Harry D. Andrews started building in 1929. He hauled stones from the Little Miami River and, when those ran out, molded bricks in quart milk cartons, working on it for more than fifty years. When he died in 1981 he left it to his troop, the Knights of the Golden Trail, who finished and still run it. Inside are towers, a chapel, period weapons and three styles of architecture, with gardens and a riverside picnic area outside.
