Founded by Ernest and Betty Schoefer, the gardens opened to the public in 1966 and feature rhododendrons, dahlias, roses and magnolias alongside native plants, fern-filled canyons and coastal pine forest. Rhody's Garden Cafe offers seasonal lunch service, and leashed dogs are admitted free.
