Misty Fjords National Monument

Behm Canal, about 40 miles east of Ketchikan · Ketchikan, AK

Why you should go…

Misty Fjords is a wilderness monument in Tongass National Forest, about 40 miles east of Ketchikan. Most visitors arrive by floatplane or boat along Behm Canal, the main waterway, where glacier-carved cliffs rise thousands of feet from the water. Look for New Eddystone Rock, a 237-foot basalt column, and watch for killer whales, porpoises, mountain goats and bears. The Forest Service keeps thirteen public cabins and about twenty miles of trail.
