A history museum in downtown Mobile that traces more than three centuries of Carnival and Mardi Gras traditions.
Mobile, AL
The museum occupies the historic Bernstein-Bush mansion on Government Street downtown. Its displays cover the regalia, costumes, and float artistry of Mobile's Carnival and Mardi Gras, including royal crowns, scepters, and robes. Visitors can browse historical photographs dating to 1886, view parade and ball videos, and climb aboard a rocking float. Rotating exhibits highlight mystic societies and the work of notable Carnival designers. A boutique gift shop operated by a local Mardi Gras supply company is on site, and guided tours run at set times when docents are available.
