US 1 from Key Largo to Key West · Key West, FL
The Overseas Highway is the southernmost stretch of US 1, running 113 miles from Key Largo to Key West across 42 bridges over the Atlantic Ocean, Florida Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Much of it follows the route of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad, which was heavily damaged by the 1935 Labor Day hurricane, and the road debuted in 1938. Small green mile marker signs track your progress from key to key. In 2009 it became Florida's first All-American Road.
