About Panola Mountain State Park

Panola Mountain State Park sits near Metro Atlanta and offers a quick escape for visitors of all ages. The park is built around a granite outcrop that is smaller than Stone Mountain but considered especially unspoiled. Ranger-led hikes, which require reservations, explain the rare plants and animals that live on the rock. Paved and forested trails serve bikers, joggers, hikers, and dog walkers on leash, while programs cover archery, geocaching, orienteering, and birding. Picnic shelters and a playground make it easy to spend a day outdoors. The park also anchors the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area, which preserves both natural features and the layered history of the region.
