Providence Place opened in 1999 beside the Rhode Island State House and covers about 1.4 million square feet on three levels. Macy's and Boscov's anchor the mall, which also has an Apple Cinemas with IMAX, Dave & Buster's and the Level99 entertainment venue. A new ownership group closed on the mall in August 2026 after about two years in receivership and says it plans to keep it a shopping center.
