Smith Rock State Park

9241 NE Crooked River Dr · Terrebonne, OR

Why you should go…

Smith Rock State Park sits in central Oregon's high desert, where the Crooked River bends beneath cliffs of welded tuff formed from volcanic ash about 30 million years ago. It is generally considered the birthplace of modern American sport climbing, with several thousand routes. Hikers take the Misery Ridge and Summit trails for views of Monkey Face, a 350-foot spire. Watch for golden eagles, prairie falcons, mule deer and river otter.
