Why you should go…

The Sumpter Valley Railroad is Oregon's only steam-powered narrow-gauge heritage railway, running excursion trains on a roughly five mile route between McEwen and Sumpter. An all-volunteer crew has rebuilt over seven miles of track along the original 1890s Sumpter Valley Railway right-of-way. Trains operate weekends and holidays from Memorial Day through the end of September.
