Opened in 1890, The Arcade was America's first indoor shopping center and among the city's first National Register landmarks. Its five-story atrium, glass skylight overhead, tiers of brass-railed balconies, gargoyles ringing the top floor, connects Euclid and Superior Avenues through twin nine-story towers. Today a Hyatt Regency occupies the upper levels while shops and eateries line the lower two, but the real draw is free: walk in, look up, and take the photo everyone takes. Open to visitors daily.
