Why you should go…
The Hill is a tight-knit Italian-American neighborhood in south St. Louis, built up by immigrant stoneworkers in the early 1900s and still home to generations-old restaurants, bakeries, and delis along Wilson and Marconi avenues. It's the birthplace of baseball figures Yogi Berra and Joe Garagiola, marked by a fire hydrant painted like the Italian flag near their old street corner. The Hill Business Association promotes the neighborhood's restaurants and shops to visitors.
