About Thompson's Lake State Park

Thompson's Lake is now run as a campground and day-use area of Thacher State Park, four miles from the Helderberg Escarpment. It has 140 wooded campsites, a sandy swimming beach with summer lifeguards, kayak, canoe and paddleboard rentals at $20, and nature trails. The Emma Treadwell Thacher Nature Center on the lakeshore has a live honeybee hive and a model of the escarpment. Day use is open year round for ice fishing and cross-country skiing. Cars pay $7.
