The museum focuses on the history of Muskogee and the surrounding Three Rivers area, with archives and a research center. It occupies a former Midland Valley Railroad depot that was bought in 1998 and renovated before opening in 2001. Exhibits sit both inside the depot and outside it, including artifacts connected to lawman Bass Reeves. The site is open Wednesday through Saturday and sits across Elgin Avenue from the Depot Green city park.
